In selecting a site for the planned Konrad Logistics Centre (LoK), BGZ used the recommendations of the Nuclear Waste Management Commission (ESK) of 26 July 2018 for a central staging facility as well as its own criteria and examined 28 federally owned sites and three nuclear power plant sites. Nine sites were found to be suitable in principle, of which the site of the former Würgassen nuclear power plant proved to be the most suitable for the construction of the LoK.
