BGZ is expressly committed to trusting, transparent and sustainable corporate governance at all levels. We signed the Diversity Charter for Diversity in the World of Work back in March 2019. All BGZ locations are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and have been validated in accordance with EMAS (EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) since 2023.
BGZ publishes an annual report on the federal government’s Public Corporate Governance Code (PCGK) as well as the annual financial statements for BGZ and the Group.

The implementation of the “Charter of Diversity” in our organisation aims to create a working environment free of prejudice. All employees should be valued – regardless of gender and gender identity, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.
EMAS
Protecting the environment is the essence of BGZ: We are explicitly mandated to store the waste produced by the nuclear industry temporarily and safely until repositories are available. But our mandate does not end with reliable and safe interim storage. This is why, since our foundation, we have been committed to meeting and exceeding the legal requirements to protect the environment. For example, we source our electricity from renewable sources where possible and support “Project Togo” to reforest natural forests. We have also set up a sustainability programme in line with the German government’s targets and have committed to being carbon neutral by 2045.
