Against the background of the statement by the Nuclear Waste Management Commission (ESK) of 18 July 2023 “Evaluation of the necessity of the Konrad logistics centre, the site selected by BGZ and the Würgassen site finally selected”, Nusec GmbH carried out an in-depth analysis of additional road traffic at the Würgassen site.

In this first supplement to the previously published simulation study, a comprehensive boundary analysis of potential lorry shipments was selected and it was assumed that all repository packages from sites without a direct rail connection would be shipped to the LoK by lorry only. As a further conservative assumption, all lorry shipments reported in the simulation study were also included in the analysis.

This addition finally results in an average value of less than 2 loaded lorries per working day (Monday to Friday) using the potential access roads to the Würgassen site.
