In addition to identifying the relevant degradation processes, the aim is to use models to describe and evaluate such processes, which will make it possible to predict the service life of structural components. The model parameters identified in the process are then analysed with regard to their relevance to the operational safety and protective function of the interim storage facilities. The condition assessment methods for existing structures applicable to engineering structures according to DIN 1076 or to buildings according to VDI 6200 are also analysed for possible adaptation, taking into account the special requirements of interim storage facilities.
After the global and local parameters for describing the relevant degradation mechanisms have been identified, existing sensors and measurement techniques will be analysed to determine their suitability for more accurate and continuous determination of these parameters.
Finally, concepts for the digital storage and data management will be developed for the monitoring and condition data generated for service life prediction. This also involves defining requirements for the integration into suitable building management systems, i.e. interfaces to a BIM (Building Information Modelling) concept or the implementation of the “digital twin” concept.
